A New Pupcycle!

No sales to attend on a holiday weekend, sigh. One of the local churches actually advertised a Black Friday Rummage Sale – and yes, it started at 6 a.m. I was tempted, but not enough to drive across town.

But the upside is, I had some time on my hands. And it’s been cold. So Zoe got a warm new outfit!

Started with this wool sweater that had been through a machine wash and dry.    P1060042Very cozy. Cut off the sleeves, did a bit of pinning and stitching, added buttons and elastic loops on each side, et voilà!

    1. Don't tempt me! It's about the only thing I miss from southern California!

    1. Thanks! Zoe doesn't really care about being warm (or cute) - she just wanted that ball I was holding over her head!

  3. Very nice up upcycle! I especially like the zippered neck for ease in getting it on & off!

  4. Cute makeover!
I was wondering if you have ever dyed a sweater? I bought a sweater for $2 at the local thrift store. It is made out of lambswool, cashmere, silk and angora, but is a drab military olive green. :( Was thinking of dying a dark blue (???) but didn't know how those fibers would take up the dye and was wondering if you had ever tried that??? Thanks in advance

    1. I have not done much dying, but the things I have tried turned out best by using water as hot as possible. Like close to boiling. So my concern for your sweater (at least if it currently fits!) would be that it would felt & shrink. Of course if you want to felt it, jump in. Since those are all natural fibers I would think they would take the dye. Or another possibility is to leave it as-is & pair it with red - I love red and olive together!

  5. Omgosh, I am going to have to try the pupcycle! My min pin has short hair and is always shivering, sweaters at the pet store can be a little expensive.
