Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Noll Baxter, our sweet funny boy cat.
He developed stones in his bladder that were blocking the urethra, and went into kidney failure. Much vet care reversed that and we thought he’d be having surgery to remove the stones. But x-rays showed more of the stone material in his kidneys. More stones could keep forming. We just couldn’t put him through multiple surgeries. So we made that hard, terrible decision.
He was born on my birthday nearly 12 years ago, and came to us at the age of eight weeks.
Edward was only a year old at the time, so they have been buds their whole lives.
As is true for everyone, Noll was not perfect. He could be quite the scamp. But oh, how he made us laugh.
There was pretty much nothing he wouldn’t try. So we are sad, knowing how much we will miss him. But we also know that he had a good life, and a good death.
Rest in peace, little Noll.
So so sorry for the loss of your ginger kitty.

I am so sorry. That hurts.
ReplyDeleteI am very sad for the loss of your sweet boy . He looks a total character in the photographs . It is good to know on reflection that he had a good life and a good death .
ReplyDeleteIt is always so difficult to lose our furry friends, just heartbreaking. Lucky Noll to have spent his life with caring folks, and lucky you to have had him in your family.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. This is a beautiful tribute, I can see what a fun cat he was.
ReplyDeleteHugs. So sorry.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear. I often wonder at the shortness of our pets lives. Makes us appreciate them even more. Sad for you.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for your loss. My cat passed away in November after being a part of the family for 16 years. She had lots of attitude but we loved her. We have not found another cat that can fill her shoes. It is tough what your going through but it sounds like you have a lot of good memories. Just remember you made the decision so he wouldn't suffer.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed his demonstrations of the comfy qualities of your finds.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, it's so hard to make the right decision. He was loved until the end. You have my deepest sympathies.

ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry. I'm a cat mom, too. We had to make that extremely hard, but very loving decision for 2 of our cats. I swear it's the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life! (and I'm 50!). The love those little fur balls give - amazing! Yes, sounds like your little guy lived a very full & loving life. I'm sure his buddy, Edward, will miss him just like the rest of you. Thinking of you, and knowing you heartache and sadness. XO
ReplyDeleteLovely photos & sweet memories!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. We had to make that decision recently for our Sweet Gemma who was 19 years old and developed an infection that she just could not fight. It is so hard to say goodbye to our fur babies.
